Stress in the workplace has long been a concern for business management because of its effect on productivity and team morale. To tackle this problem, LogicaGMC, a mobile phone software developer in Malaysia, aligned with Oran Kivity Holistic Services to pilot a stress relief program earlier this year.
A simple stress-busting combination of acupuncture was offered to staff every Friday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. from June to October. 217 treatments were given over the four month period.
Before and after treatment, staff were asked to fill in a simple form quantifying their levels of stress on a scale of 1-10. The data showed a consistent weekly percentage improvement in the group. The average weekly percentage improvement was 49.9%, a superb result for a 25 minute treatment. In other words, people felt their stress was halved by the acupuncture
The program confirms the quick result of acupuncture in stress relief when practiced in work place. The success of this project was reported by British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) in its newsletter.
